You are excited about welcoming another little human into your family and you want to announce it to the world! But, how? I got you, Mama! I am sharing all of my best tips and tricks for having a successful pregnancy announcement photoshoot.

When do you want to announce your pregnancy?

Most couples like to announce between 4 and 8 weeks. However, some parents wait until 12 weeks to let the world in on the secret. Knowing when you would like to announce your pregnancy is super important for the planning process. It helps you know when you need to get the photos done depending on your family photographers turnaround time.

Find a Photographer you like.

Look for Family or Maternity photographers in your area. Check out their work and make sure you like their style. Not just in editing, but in posing too! Find the photographer whose portfolio reflects the vibe you want.



April’s Advice: I recommend scheduling your announcement session ASAP, so that you have more flexibility on photoshoot dates! You want this to be a time of celebration and excitement, not of stress.



BRING PROPS

Most announcement sessions are taken during the first or beginning of the second trimester, so Mamas aren’t quite showing yet. This makes props super important! These are what turns your photos from any old couples session to an announcement session. Onesies, sonograms, hats, a board that says your baby's due date, the options are endless!

Money Saving Tip: Ask photographers if they do bundle discounts! Many photographers, including myself, offer a discount if you book a Maternity and Newborn session at the time of booking your announcement! This not only saves you money, but also stress.

This session is meant to ring in the start of your next chapter. One filled with excitement, endless joy, and a whole lot of love. At the end of the day, what’s most important is having fun and soaking in all the memories.
